Prevention is a key part of wellness.
Prevention, wellness and disease management have moved into the forefront of health over the years as research continues to show the significant benefits of lifestyle changes on health. Lifestyle changes, including increased physical activity, can lead to health benefits for those with chronic disease, prevent or manage a number of non-communicable diseases, and lead to an overall increased quality of life.
The Complete Health Improvement Program (CHIP) or CHIP is a comprehensive, affordable, lifestyle enrichment program designed to reduce disease risk factors through the adoption of better health habits and appropriate lifestyle modifications. The goal is to lower blood cholesterol, hypertension, and blood sugar levels and reduce excess weight. This is done by improving dietary choices, enhancing daily exercise, increasing support systems and decreasing stress, thus aiding in preventing and reversing disease. CHIP is an INTENSIVE lifestyle program and thus is taught twice a week in a small group setting over a 9 week period.
